Concept Headphones with the screen

Who said that the headphones should only output sound in the ears of their owners? Who says that they can not even show? After all, it’s good – listen to music and not to affect the surrounding. Only you, headphones and music! But now it seems that the time has come for change.
Designer Mike Enayah introduced the concept of headphones with integrated bracket for iPhone, which turns the device into an analogue a glasses with virtual reality . The design of these headphones used metal, wood, and plastic.

2012 Revisited: Top five phones launched in India this year

2012 has been a rather active year for us. There were smartphones launched as if someone was rolling them off a non-stop assembly line. This made the job of sifting the best from the 'okay' rather tough, considering how most of the competing phones are so close to each other in terms of the overall package. However, after a lot of hair pulling, double-checking the test sheets, bringing on the rival’s viewpoints – the good and the sublimely insane – we have the five best phones of the year. For anyone of you who’s favourite phone may not have made it to the list, all we can say is, sorry!
But do remember, we are only listing phones that have been launched in the Indian market officially, and can be purchased if you walk into a store with the warmth of cash or credit card.
The iPhone(s):
Before your curiosity turns into some sort of temper, let us just say this – all iPhones currently in the market are fairly brilliant devices, and clearly one of the best options within their price bands. Look at the iPhone 4. For around Rs. 26,000, it is selling like hot cakes. For most users who want to switch to an iPhone, it is a fairly good bet without crossing the mental barrier of Rs. 30,000. One step up, and the iPhone 4S is still going strong, capable of still weaning away customers from the quad-core power that certain Android phones in that price band show off. And for all the rich people out there, the iPhone 5 has the best possible package – performance, premium build and a nuisance value that will be unmatched – keep it on the table at a party, and no one will bother arguing about which phone is the best!

Samsung Galaxy S III:
This is by far the best Android phone, at least as far as the performance is concerned. Initially, there was a lot of indignation at the so-called inferiority of the PenTile display. But considering the brilliance of the final package and the way it has been gobbled up by the consumers, the incongruous arguments bandied around at the time of launch have vanished in thin air. I personally know people who used to almost be the torchbearers of that feeble argument, but now they completely deny the existence of that time! The Galaxy S III has survived the test of time, and not without reason. It is totally worth the money, if an Android phone is what you want.

Apple's iOS 6.0.2 Update Fixes Wi-Fi, Might Also Drain Battery Life

Let's start with the good news. Apple's over-the-air (OTA) iOS 6.0.2 update is available and it brings with it a fix for "a bug that could impact Wi-Fi." Great, say goodbye to Wi-Fi glitches. And hey, the Mayans messed up; the world didn't end today, or at least it hasn't yet, so that's good news too, right?

As for the bad news, well, here we go with battery life complaints again. Some iPhone 5 users are reporting battery drain issues after applying the update.

Samsung unveils the 5-inch Galaxy Grand with Jelly Bean

Samsung has announced a new smartphone, the Galaxy Grand, which boasts of dual-SIM capabilities and runs on Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean. No launch date or price of the smartphone has been revealed.
The reason we call this a love child of the Note II and the S III is because its exterior looks like the S III and it also has a large 5-inch display quite reminiscent of the Note. In terms of other specifications under the hood, the Galaxy Grand boasts of a dual-core 1.2GHz processor and 1GB of RAM. The rear houses an 8MP snapper with the ability to shoot HD video and the front has a 2MP video-calling camera. It also sports 8GB built-in storage expandable up to 64GB via a microSD card. It also includes other standard specifications such as Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, 3G, GPS and sensors such as an accelerometer, compass, and gyroscopic sensor.

Facebook updates its iOS app as well

The code crunchers up at Facebook HQ have been hard at work pushing out a brand new Android app today, but also making live an updated version of the iOS app. The update brings a number of tweaks to the iOS app, along with a new feature.

For starters, the way the app loads the newsfeed has been optimized to make the loading times much shorter. Of course there is no real benchmark test to prove that, but we’ve been browsing Facebook all day from our iPhone and it does seem like the loading times are shorter.
The second update is to the Timeline feature in the app. Timeline for iOS app was implemented some time ago, but was slow and often problematic, leading to app crashes. Facebook HQ reports that they have built the Timeline for the iOS app ground up, making sure that it loads without any hiccups. Again, through our day spend on Facebook all day, we can confirm that not once did we have issues jumping from profile to profile.
The last, and perhaps most important addition to the whole shebang is that the app now allows selecting an album to upload photos to. The Android counterpart of the app has had this ability for a while now, so we’re only wondering why the feature was not there on iOS to begin with. Regardless, the point is that it’s here and it works.

D-Link's Tiny New Wireless Range Extender Works With Any Router

When it comes to getting Wi-Fi strewn across huge areas, your options have historically been a little limited. Most routers needed specific range extenders in order to work together, and the universal solutions were fairly huge. But now, D-Link has introduced the Wireless Range Extender (DAP-1320), which functions with any router you have in order to extend the range of your wireless access point. It's barely larger than an AC outlet plug, and is ideal for pushing wireless signals to those hard-to-reach areas – eliminating Wi-Fi dead zones and broadening the range of a wireless network for seamless everyday Internet activities. For those in large homes or venues, this could make the difference between pulling your hair out and a useful streaming experience.

Samsung Releases Premium Suite Upgrade with Jelly Bean for Galaxy SIII

Kudos to Samsung for not resting on its laurels with what many would consider the best Android smartphone on the market (and you could argue it doesn't need the "Android" qualifier). We're of course talking about the Galaxy S III, and along with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, which both T-Mobile and AT&T have pushed out, Samsung is upping the ante with a Premium Suite upgrade.

GMail Launches New Compose Email View

Google is known for continuous updates to its products and add new features in them. Google always try to improve product performance and make it faster and easier. Today, Google has done something similar with it Gmail by launching new compose email view. Gmail has redesigned the compose and reply experience to make it faster.

“We’re always trying to make Gmail faster and easier to use, so today we’re introducing a completely redesigned compose and reply experience that does just that,” Phil Sharp, Product Manager Gmail, wrote.

The new compose pops up in a window, just like chats. So it is now easy to see older emails while writing a new email. Now you do not need to save new email to draft just to see something from older mails. See the snap shot of new compose mail pop up.

As we can see that it works in similar way as chat windows, we can now compose multiple emails at once and minimize a message to finish it later.

Facebook Messenger refresh for Android

Facebook Messenger, for the first time, has received a critical update that has made the users sit up and take notice. And it clearly indicates that Facebook is looking at a bigger chunk of users coming on board, but via a different route. Is this how the next billion sign up? Possibly so. But what is certain is that certain other applications now better watch out.

What is new?
The latest version of Messenger now lets you sign-up and login using just your valid mobile phone number. Till now, you needed to have a Facebook account that was mandatory for signing in to Messenger. Now, download the app from the Play Store, or update it if it is already installed on your phone, and head to the login page. Here, you will see the option of signing up for Messenger. Just like Whatsapp lets you sign-up, you need a mobile phone number, and at the time of signing up, you will need to punch in a one-time verification code that will be sent to your mobile number. It is as simple as that.

Google Nexus 10 Android Tablet Review

With the release of the Nexus 7 not only did Google show that Android can be competitive on a small tablet, but they also beat the iPad mini to sale by several months, giving time for the Nexus 7 to gain a foothold in the market. Fast forward to today and Google's set their sights even higher: right into the 10" tablet fray where the iPad dominates. On paper the Nexus 10 is impressive with a Retina Display beating 10" 2560x1600 display, brand new Exynos 5 dual core processor, Android 4.2 Jellybean and a very competitive price of only $400. Taken as a whole with the Nexus branding which practically guarantees future updates, the Samsung built and Google branded Nexus 10 checks a lot of the right boxes.

The hardware has a lot in common with the Nexus 7. The front is dominated by the display with on-screen Back, Home and Multitasking keys, with the addition of a pair of front facing speakers running along the edges which do a significantly better job than ordinary tablet speakers. The back is coated in a single piece of soft-touch plastic which does help you get a good grip on the tablet at the expense of being a fingerprint magnet and having a slight amount of give when pressed on.

Google Buys BufferBox, Could Hint At Same-Day Delivery Service

Google has been raking in money for years now, but it has also been spending a pretty penny, too. Some of that spending has been on various other companies, useful for bolstering its offerings in a hurry, and potentially in areas that it wouldn't enter itself otherwise. The latest pick up from Google is BufferBox, a Canadian company that could enable Google to rival Amazon's Locker services.

Hackers Discover Wii U's Processor Design and Clock Speed

Ever since the Wii U was announced, there've been conversations on the type of CPU it used and what sort of performance gamers could expect from it. Deep off-the-record comments from game developers indicated that the Wii U's horsepower was on par with, or perhaps a bit behind the Xbox 360 and PS3, which naturally raised questions about just how "next-generation" the Wii U would be.

Now, Wii and PS3 hacker Hector Martin (aka Marcan) has answered some of these questions and raised a few others. According to him, the Wii U's CPU is a triple-core design clocked at 1.24GHz. Marcan identifies the base design as a PowerPC 750, which makes a great deal of sense. Nintendo used PowerPC 750-derived processors in both the GameCube and the Wii; retaining that architecture for the Wii U would simplify backwards compatibility and game programming.

Next Generation Xbox 720 Coming In Time For 2013 Holiday Season

Nintendo's Wii U jumped out to a fast start, selling 400,000 units during its first week of sales. It's become difficult to find the console in stock anywhere, that is unless you're willing to pay inflated prices on eBay or Craigslist. However, it's also the only new generation console in town, but for how long?. There have been plenty of rumors and speculation surrounding Microsoft's next Xbox console, codenamed Durango, and the timeframe we keep hearing is that it will launch towards the end of next year.

Bloomberg reiterated that launch goal today, saying that "people familiar with the company's plans" have indicated Microsoft is aiming to have Durango on store shelves in time for the holiday shopping season in 2013.

Surface Pro to Have Half the Battery Life of Surface RT

Microsoft official Twitter account for Surface delivered a gut punch to potential Surface Pro shoppers by confirming that battery life on the x86 tablet will be less than that of its ARM-based Surface RT slates. Much less.

"Hey Shahroom, #Surface Pro will have approximately half the battery life of Surface RT," @Surface tweeted on Thursday, in response to a question about battery life.

That's not a total shocker, considering Surface Pro is a much more powerful tablet. It's essentially a full blown notebook in a tablet form factor, with all the compatibility to run Windows 7 applications. It has a 10.6-inch screen with a Full HD 1080p (1920x1080) resolution, Intel Core i5 processor, a full-size USB 3.0 port, and a Mini DisplayPort than can beam images up to 2560x1440 to an external display.
