Samsung has launched its second-generation 13.3-inch Series 9 notebook in India for Rs. 1,02,990.
The laptop was first announced back in January atCES 2012, and launched globally in late February, however did not make it to Indian shores. The model launching now is the updated one, with Ivy Bridge processors.
An ultraslim and ultralight offering, the Series 9 is not being called an ultrabook by Samsung. It is 12.9mm thick, and weighs in at 1.16kgs. TheSamsung Series 9 notebook bears a 13-inch SuperBright 400nit HD+ LED display with a resolution of 1600x900 pixels. It is powered by an Ivy Bridge Intel Core i7 3517U processor clocked at 1.9GHz, with Intel HD 4000 graphics coupled with 4GB of DDR3 RAM. It ships with a 256GB SSD.
Other features of the 13.3-inch Samsung Series 9 laptop include a 1.3-MP web camera, and a 4-cell battery. In terms of its connectivity options, the device has two USB ports (one USB 3.0 and one USB 2.0), a Micro HDMI port, card reader, VGA port and Gigabit Ethernet LAN port, apart from Wi-Fi a/b/g/n and Blutooth 4.0.
Straight out of the box, the second-generation Series 9 laptop runs Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit OS.
Just like its Ultrabook brethren, the device compromises on a DVD drive but in turn you get a very slim bezel and form factor measuring a mere 12.9mm in thickness and the device is really light too weighing a mere 1.16kgs.
Apart from the Series 9 Ultrabook, Samsung also launched the 14-inch Series 5 550P notebook range. Featuring Core i7 processors and Nvidia 650M GPUs, the Series 5 550P supports up to 8GB of RAM. Weighing in at 2.5kg, with will ship with a 1TB hard-drive. Samsung has priced it at Rs. 62,990, though a higher-end model is available, complete with a Blu-ray drive.
