MSI's AMD-Powered GX60 Gaming Laptop Available

MSI first teased gamers with its GX60 gaming laptop in September, announcing at the time a couple of core components but keeping the rest a secret. Well, we now have full specs and pricing info to share, and assuming performance can live up to the parts list, it was worth the wait.

"MSI spared no bells and whistles in creating the GX60, packing it with cutting-edge components including the latest AMD processor," said Andy Tung, vice president of sales for MSI US. "MSI is committed to the gaming community and we believe that exceptional performance leads to unparalleled gaming experience."

AMD is at the front and center of the 15.6-inch GX60, starting with an A10 Accelerated Processing Unit (APU) clocked at 2.3GHz to 3.2GHz. That, along with the AMD Radeon HD 7970M GPU, Full HD 1080p (1920x1080) resolution, and Killer Gaming Network LAN, and SteelSeries keyboard were previously divulged.

Supplementing those features is 8GB of DDR3-1600 system memory, 750GB hard drive (7200 RPM), Blu-ray reader, 720p HD webcam, three SuperSpeed USB 3.0 ports, a single USB 2.0 port, HDMI output, 2.1 speakers with THX TruStudio PRO sound, 5-in-1 memory card reader, Windows 8 64-bit, and a 9-cell battery.

That's a solid all-around feature-set for the $1,300 asking price. The GX60 will be available to purchase sometime this week, MSI says.
