Sony launches Xperia Ion in INDIA



Sony has officially announced the launch of the Xperia Ion in India. Priced at Rs. 36,999, the Sony Xperia Ion runs on Andriod 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and is powered by a 1.5GHz dual-core Qualcomm processor, coupled with Adreno 220 GPU, on the MSM8260 Snapdragon chipset. The device was recently spotted on online shopping website Snapdeal with a price tag of Rs. 35,999.
The Sony Xperia Ion has a 4.6-inch LED-backlit LCD display with a 1280 x 720 pixel resolution. It has 1GB of RAM, 16GB built-in storage, and a microSD card slot. The device comes with a massive 12.1 MP autofocus camera with LED flash, apart from a front-facing 1.3MP camera. Connectivity options include 3G, Wi-Fi, HDMI, USB 2.0, Bluetooth, GPS with A-GPS, and NFC. The Xperia Ion comes with a large 1,900 mAh battery rated to deliver 12 hours of music playback, 10 hours of talk time, and 400 hours of standby time.

The Xperia Ion also features FM radio with RDS, multiple format support for audio and video, 3D and motion gaming (PlayStation certified). The device has preloaded Google Voice Search, Google Talk with video chat, Google Mail, Google Calendar, Facebook and Twitter apps. The phone is available in black and red colour variants. Sony is also planning to launch its Xperia Tipo smartphone in India. The Xperia Tipo runs on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich OS and is powered by an 800MHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. It has 3.2-inch touchscreen with 320 x 480 pixels resolution, 3.2MP camera, 512MB of RAM, 2.9GB built-in storage (up to 2.5GB user-accessible memory) and microSD card slot.
