Samsung has launched its first Android-based camera at IFA 2012. Called the Galaxy Camera, the device comes with Google Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and is powered by a 1.4GHz quad-core processor. Pricing and launch details however, have not been shared yet.
The Galaxy Camera has a 16MP BSI CMOS 1/2.3" sensor, and a wide angle (23mm) lens with 21X optical zoom. It sports a 4.77-inch 308ppi HD Super Clear LCD. On the face, the Galaxy Camera feels like a camera because of its build and physical shutter button but flip it over and the device feels like an Android smartphone. This isn't the firstAndroid camera we've heard of. Nikon recentlylaunched the 16MP Coolpix S800c, which runs on Android, and is meant to be the ideal device for those who often share on social networks. Samsung was also rumoured earlier this year to be working on an Android-based camera, though no-one expected such specificatons.

Canon releases firmware 2.0 update for the EOS 7D

Canon has lived up to the promise it made a couple of months ago and released the updated version 2.0 firmware that's supposed to breathe new life into the EOS Canon 7D.

The two major upgrades that EOS Canon 7D firmware 2.0 update brings is the expansion of RAW buffer from 15 images to 25, meaning that sports shooters and those who just love shooting at the full 8 frames per second will have a little more room to play with. The second key feature being added to the 7D is the ability to set manual audio levels.

Samsung EX2F Brings Wi-Fi With an F1.4 Lens to the Premium Class

Samsung announced the high-end EX2F premium point-and-shoot a few weeks ago, and at the time, the camera's bright F1.4 aperture at the wide-angle end of its 3.3X-optical-zoom lens (24mm to 79mm) was a unique feature in a fixed-lens camera. Now the EX2F has some competition: Panasonic's Lumix LX7, which offers the same F1.4 aperture at its widest-angle focal length. They're the two fastest, brightest lenses in the compact class.

The EX2F, however, is still the only premium point-and-shoot I've seen with Wi-Fi features, offering the ability to share full-resolution images and video wirelessly to mobile phones, tablets, computers, HDTVs, and other networked devices. Samsung is betting big on Wi-Fi features in its its 2012 camera lineup, and the EX2F is the most-advanced fixed-lens camera from any manufacturer with built-in wireless-sharing features.
