Twitter hides source app names from tweets

Twitter continues to tighten its noose around third party developers, with the micro-blogging website now deciding to remove the tag that identifies which app a tweet has come from. The move will hide the branding of apps such as Hootsuite, Tweetbot, Ecofon and a host of other third-party Twitter clients used to tweet to the Twitter stream.

It's notable that the change has already been implemented in Twitter's mobile applications. "This is part of our ongoing work to simplify Tweets and emphasize the content being shared," a Twitter spokesperson is quoted by CNET as saying.

Twitter recently announced changes to itsApplication Programming Interface (API) v1.1that had stricter rules for the third party developers. Among the top API changes includes the restriction of 100,000 users. If a developer is already at the limit, Twitter allows them to double the numbers but not after that. Now developers need authentication from Twitter before having access to the API.
The new API rules have been severely criticized by the developers. "I sure as hell wouldn't build a business on Twitter, and I don't think I'll even build any nontrivial features on it anymore," said Marco Arment, a developer who created Instapaper. "And if I were in the Twitter-client business, I'd start working on another product."
It's learnt that Tweetbot, another popular Twitter app, decided to shut down its alpha version testing due to new stricter rules. Developers of Tweetbot in a post revealed that the company had been “unable to come up with a solution that was acceptable” to Twitter.

LG Mouse Scanner – Copy Power in the Palm of your Hand

Computers have come a ridiculously long way. We actually had an old Radio Shack computer back in the day that used cassette tapes for programs. I remember sitting for hours watching the thing draw random lines. The one thing that hasn’t changed all that much is the mouse. Sure, they have specialty ones for gamers and the like, but nothing really amazing… a mouse was pretty much a mouse, important, but shouldn’t it be able to do more?

Touchscreen iMac?

Apple revolutionized the world of touch screens. Between the Touch, Phone and Pad – and many other brands of devices that followed – we have become a swiping, pinching, tapping sort of society. Yet the foundational product in Apple’s collection is still “touch free.” Think about it – the iMac lacks this functionality that we associate with their product brethren. Zorro Macsk, by TMDTouch, proves to change that simple fact and give you a touchscreen iMac.

Sony Vaio T11

With the Sony Vaio T11, we can see the rise of a niche within what is a larger niche category. The 13-inch display size being the most popular one, anything else will be rather lonely when it comes to having direct competition. The Vaio T, in it’s 11-inch avatar, is probably meant for someone who wants an ultrabook, but wants to go the whole way with the small form factor and the ultraportable experience, even more than what a 13-inch ultrabook would offer.

Build & Design
The Sony Vaio T11 is probably one of the most understated ultrabooks we have seen. There is a very elegant element about the design, without any gaudy, glossy or shiny elements around. The Vaio and Sony logos get the chrome treatment, helping them shine out on the brushed metal lid, without actually creating a colour conflict. Sony seems to be excelling in making subtle tweaks to the designs of their laptops. TheVaio E-series that we had reviewed recently had a lid that was slightly smaller on the near side, than the rest of the laptop, creating a slightly unique look. On the T-series though, it is the other way round. The length of the lid is longer than the rest of the laptop, which means there is an inward slope top down.

The color of the icon is very remarkable and colored blue completely and in most of the territories it places on the Google Homepage. Sometimes it creates confusion when the placement of “g” has been suffering of Google testing.
The first version is described as placing “g” at the center of the light-blue rounded square.

How projector lamps work

A projector lamp is a fundamental feature of any projection device, so it really pays to understand how it works, and what steps you can take to enhance its longevity. Taking adequate steps to keep your lamp happy will most certainly save $$$, and unforeseen headache, well into the future.

What constitutes a projector lamp?

The lamp comprises three components, being the bulb, reflector, and a cage.

How does a projector lamp work?

A projector lamp operates by sending an electrical current across an ultra-high pressurised mercury vapor which causes the lamp to emit an extremely intense, bright light, shone through a DLP or LCD system in order to display images. The complex technological nature of projection lamps is very costly to produce – translating to a fairly hefty consumer price tag.

MOZILLA TO DEVELOP OS BASED ON ANDROID!

Mozilla, who are renowned for their successful internet browser, are entering the mobile race, developing a new web-centric OS that will directly compete with Google, Apple and Microsoft.

If the name Mozilla rings any bells it's because they're the tech boffins who put together Internet Explorer, the browser that Windows defaults to. Mozilla took the leviathan computing company on with its Firefox browser, and today it stands as the second most popular browser worldwide.

Now the company who was underdog to Microsoft looks to be playing the same role, but this time against internet mogul Google.

Announced on the Mozilla discussion forum, Mozilla have begun coding for phones and tablets. The BBC revealed the mobile operating system will draw on Android code, with Mozilla writing as much fresh code as possible. The hybrid-like operating system will be named Boot To Gecko.

It is an unusual name for an OS, until you remember Gecko is the rendering engine employed by the Firefox browser that interprets web page coding and displays it in a screen-friendly format, a homage to its origins.

Fujitsu's Green Tech Recycles CDs, Uses Plastics For New Laptops

A few years back, you could hardly talk about electronics without hearing some "green" slant. Eco-friendly this, and energy-efficient that. Nowadays, green is still "in," but it's not spoken of with nearly the same amount of vigor. That Fujitsu's making green sexy again, and its new technology truly is impressive. The company announced this week that it has created the industry's first recycling system that collects used CDs and DVDs at Fujitsu Group recycling centers and reuses the plastic in the bodies of notebook PCs. Fujitsu began using this recycled plastic for part of the front panel of its LIFEBOOK P772/E notebook PC for enterprise customers, a model in its summer 2012 lineup, but now it seems that the experiment will stretch its arms a bit. Here's a bit more on the process from the company itself:
