Nokia adds Traffic Feature on Nokia maps

Nokia has added the Traffic Update feature to the Location Services portfolio on Nokia Maps. At the moment, this is available for users in Delhi and Mumbai. The service is powered by NAVTEQ Traffic Pro, and will depend on data collected from users.

Before setting off, users can feed in the destination into Nokia Drive or Nokia Maps, and get an idea of the traffic situation along the way. The service refreshes every two minutes, and will re-route on the fly in case the situation changes.

Opera 12 released with integrated mail client, wider support

Opera has always been the dark-horse of web browsers, known for its strict adherence to web standards, apart from being known for its speed. The newest version of the browser, Opera 12 (available on Windows, Linux and Mac) brings with it a significant number of improvements with regards to performance, stability and security.

To begin with, Opera has always known for its phenomenal cold-boot times (The time from when you click on the icon to when the application loads) Opera 12 has managed to further improve its startup time with a new smart tab-loading sequence for restoring previously opened tabs. New APIs allow developers to access the computer’s webcam as well as better support for browser windows and tabs in extensions. Notably, Opera has decided to discontinue its Opera Widgets and Opera Voice, and is urging developers to create extensions for the browser instead, using the new and improved APIs.

Researchers Plan to Make a Robot With Touchy-Feely Skin

This robot, lovingly named Pumpkin, might look like it was made with an oversized LEGO Mindstorm NXT kit but in the future, it could be the closest thing to a human analog. The researchers at the University of Ottawa plan to make Pumpkin look like us, with a face that can express emotions and an artificial skin that can feel just like us.
The artificial skin the scientists plan to employ is made up of an elastic silicon impregnated with tactile and temperature sensors. The sensors in the skin will allow the robot feel contact, pressure, movement, texture, and temperature through its skin just like we do.

Apple rumoured to unveil iPhone 5

Apple rumoured to unveil iPhone 5 on September 12

Rumours have been circulating all over the Internet suggesting that Apple’s sixth generation iPhone will launch in September 2012. These rumours have turned into a sort of confirmation if sources close to Reuters and AllThingsD can be believed.

Sources close to AllThingsD have reportedly confirmed that the event is scheduled sometime in the week of starting from the 9th of September, which makes the 12th of September a plausible date for the event. Reuters too has confirmation from its sources about the September event.
Apple on the other hand has declined to comment on the situation but all rumours will be put to rest once the Apple Invite finds its way to inboxes.

OCEAN BLUE HAVE DEVELOPED THE WORLD'S FIRST ANTI-VIRUS SOFTWARE FOR CONNECTED TV'S

In order to combat the emerging threat of malware on Smart TV's, Ocean Blue has partnered with IT security leader Sophos to develop a cloud-based antivirus solution that can be shipped either as part of the Ocean Blue middleware or as a stand-alone client for solutions with their own middleware.

According to Futuresource Consulting, by 2015 over 80 percent of new televisions and set-top boxes will be Internet-ready. As many of these products will be based on either Linux or Android, they will be capable of downloading and running remote applications. While this connectivity brings many new features, it also exposes these devices to potential viruses and other malware, making antivirus protection essential.

Microsoft Launches Socl Social Network

Over the weekend, Microsoft opened to the public an experimental social network called So.cl. It's a mix between Google+ and Storify. Users are encouraged to search for information about a particular topic, then compile the best results - textual content, images and videos - into a single post. So.cl, which launched in beta at the end of last year, is initially targeted to students. It may end up being useful to that market, but it's unlikely to get traction as a mainstream social network. Here's why...
Microsoft is calling So.cl "an experiment in open search," in that anything you search for on the network is viewable by other users and made available to third party developers. That description makes it sound like a direct competitor to Google+, which was Google's attempt at combining search with social networking. It certainly has similarities, but So.cl is ultimately an academic tool moreso than a social one.
To get started, you can sign up using either your Facebook or Windows Live profile. Microsoft had little choice but to leverage Facebook's social graph, given that hardly anyone uses Windows Live (Microsoft's ID platform). Sure enough, Facebook gave me a good leg up into the So.cl network, enabling me to auto-follow over 50 people.

The Features

HTC Desire V

The Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich-based HTC Desire V, the company’s first dual-SIM offering, is now available in India, priced at Rs. 21,999.

Flipkart is bundling an 8GB microSD card with therecently introduced Desire V, making its price a little easier to swallow. Bearing a Cortex-A5 1GHz processor (albeit outdated) on the Qualcomm MSM7227A chipset, coupled with an Adreno 200 GPU and 512MB of RAM, the HTC Desire V will become the most capable dual-SIM Android phone currently available in India, if not the most expensive.
